There are two separate compartments in the bow for the anchor chain ~ the main compartment is accessible through the forepeak and the other compartment is accessible from the deck. Next aft is the forward stateroom, which contains a double-size V-berth with storage lockers and a drawer on the port side. Aft of the bunk to starboard are two additional drawers with a dedicated laundry-bin below and a bookshelf above and a Cedar-lined hanging locker. Under the berth is another storage area with access both above and below the berth and the hot water tank. The separate stall shower and head with marble counter tops is located to port ~ there is storage under the sink where the saltwater pump is also mounted. Across from the head are two locker ~ one is a hanging locker and the other a half-height locker with two shelves.

Moving further aft you’ll find the lower salon. It has been designed with relaxation and entertainment in mind. The starboard side is where the entertainment system is located (stereo, CD changer, DVD, VCR & TV) ~ it is enclosed in two lockers with a third locker forward for wine glasses, etc. Under the entertainment center is the back of the starboard settee, which can lift up to sleep an occasional guest. Above the bunk are two built-in drop down shelves, one of them stores approximately 50 charts.

Underneath this bunk is a built-in fresh water tank. The port side of the salon has an over-sized seating arrangement with large pillows for comfort. Behind the L-shaped seating area are a double locker forward and a bookshelf aft, large enough to store guide and navigation books. In front of the seating area is a small coffee table, mounted on a stainless steel pedestal that matches the pilothouse main dining table and can be used as an extension, which will be described later. The settee also has ample storage space underneath.

From the salon, the Pilothouse is two steps up with the navigation station to starboard. Under the chart table is a large locker with an AM/FM/Tape stereo and outboard of the navigation table is another very large locker. At the nav station there are two SSB’s with separate antenna systems, a VHF, GPS, remote for the CD changer, a dual battery monitoring system and a newly installed electrical panel. Going further aft to starboard is the refrigerator/freezer then the stove, next a cupboard below for pots & pans followed by the sinks.

The port side of the Pilothouse from forward has the inside steering station with the master electrical panel outboard and two lockers. Beside the helm is a C.A.R.D. radar reflector and a digital battery voltage readout. The helm seat seat is quite unique as it has the ability to raise and lower 12” for a better view forward, as well as the back of the seat can swing over to allow extra seating at the dining table. This is where the lower salon table is used as an extension when seating up to 6-people around the table. Underneath the helm seat is the master battery switch along with the 1750-watt inverter. Outboard and also under the U-shaped dining area is again loaded with storage space.

The dining table is mounted on a locker in which is installed the microwave and below that a shelf for cookbooks or miscellaneous. Under the pilothouse is a second floor area where over 1000 amp-hours of batteries live along with the refrigerator compressor, fresh water pump and filters, a new diaphragm bilge pump and outboard on either side are the stainless steel water tanks. Aft of the water tanks are the Fiberglass fuel tanks. Under this second floor is the bilge sump, which has a second electric submersible bilge pump along with a high-water alarm and the suction hose for the manual bilge pump.

The steps leading to the cockpit are removable to give access to the engine and transmission. In front of the steps, under the floor is the engine battery switch along with the 120-amp alternator isolator and a 30-amp solar panle regulator. Beside the steps is a custom binocular/flashlight Teak storage box. Leaving the Pilothouse, the cockpit is three steps up with the companionway slightly to starboard. There are two huge cockpit lockers and a lazarette. In the starboard locker is the VHF radio along with a special Military SB antenna tuner and on the forward bulkhead is a rack for line storage.

To starboard of the lazarette is a dedicated propane locker storing a 25# & 10# aluminum bottle and a second propane locker on the portside stores another 10# aluminum bottle. In the lazarette you’ll find the second SSB antenna tuner, a small electrical fuse panel and right on the stern, a rack for dock line storage. Mounted outboard in the cockpit are the two primary winches (details below). On the starboard stern rail is the BBQ grill.

Above the cockpit is a custom, sturdy bimini frame and cover ~ above which are mounted six solar panels and the wind generator. Cockpit speakers are under the awning. Attached to the stern is the self-steering gear which can also run off the auto pilot. Facing forward in the cockpit to starboard, mounted on the coach roof you will find the depth sounder, wind instrument & VHF radio speaker. To port on the coach roof is the mainsheet winch. Forward of the base of the steering pedestal is where the liferaft is stored and above that is fitted a removable custom cockpit table.

Ted has now designed over 270 vessels, written three books and contributed many articles to numerous boating magazines. He is a charter member of the Society of Boat and Yacht Designers and as a sailor has raced in many parts of the world. In 1999 Ted and his wife Betty returned to Canada and settled on Gabriola Island in British Columbia where he continued to design.
