"The Donald" arrives Friday Flamboyant real estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump arrives in the DR on Friday to begin sales of his US$2 billion project in Cap Cana, Trump Farallon Estates.
Cap Cana's developers signed a partnership agreement with Trump last February to build a golf course, a hotel-condominium complex, a beach club, golf villas and apartments. Lots at the project range from 6000 mt2 to 24,000 mt2 and are located two hundred feet above the ocean.
The latest winner of the hit television show "The Apprentice" opted to work at the new site based on photos she was shown. She exclaimed, "Have you seen the water?"
February 17, 2007 - 7:51 AM ET Trump Creating Dominican Republic Resort NEW YORK (AP) - Real estate developer Donald Trump said Friday that he is teaming with Cap Cana SA to create a luxury resort on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic.
The $2 billion project, named Trump at Cap Cana, will include a condominium hotel, golf course, golf villas, beach club and luxury homes.
Trump, president and chief executive of The Trump Organization, said entering the Dominican Republic with a Trump-branded property was a natural move because the location fits with the type of upscale resort he is looking to provide.
"People know it will be top of the line," he said.
A gated community of 68 luxury homes called Trump Farallon Estates at Cap Cana will be the first portion of the project to be developed. The homes, which will each sit on at least 1.5 acres, will be located on a bluff 60 feet above sea level.
Farallon home owners will have memberships to various clubs and amenities within Cap Cana.
The resort's boutique-style hotel will feature more than 150 condominium units, as well as amenities including a spa and fitness center, said Eric Trump, vice president of acquisitions and development.
Financial details on the luxury homes and condominium units were not provided.
Trump said he anticipates buyers coming from all over the world, but mostly from the United States.
The massive master-planned tourism and real estate project, which is next to Punta Cana International Airport, will cover more than 30,000 acres and include more than 5,000 residential units and at least four luxury hotels. It also will include three Jack Nicklaus golf courses and a marina, Trump said.

DR becomes retiree paradise... With the approval and publication of Law 171-07 on Foreign Retirees, the Dominican Republic has become a paradise for people planning to retire to an idyllic setting. Fast-tracked residency paperwork (45 days), duty-free household goods, reductions on motor vehicle taxes, exemption on transfer taxes for the first purchase of real estate, 50% reduction on taxes on mortgages, 50% reduction on the annual property tax, exemption on taxes on dividends and interest, 50% reduction on capital gains are just some of the attractions. Developers are very happy with the new law. Just ask Jose Luis Asilis, the president of the Metro Group, who pointed out the need to publicize the news overseas. Asilis told a meeting organized by Listin Diario that Europeans can "live like kings on a fraction of what they receive in pensions."
The minimum monthly income required is US$1,500 US for retirees with a government or private pension and US$2,000 in verified income from all others.
